RONALD T. W. KING

Meet Ronald: Shift supervisor at an industrial foam manufacturer. Tabloid junky. Turned his recycling bin into a coffee table in his apartment.
Home: Savannah, GA
Age: 28
Occupation: Supervisor
Why Ronald Doesn’t Recycle: Mine would just be a drop in the ocean.

Why Should Ronald Recycle:

no, no, you know better than that Ron. Recycle. It's easy, it's fun, makes you feel all warm inside. you're doing something for your kids and the environment.
Eenah, Kennesaw

You don't need to be convinced. It's not going to hurt anyone for you to recycle. So try it and then learn about the benefits as you do it. You're wasting too many materials that could be getting recycled waiting to be convinced.
Nicole, Orlando

Why not use the bin for what its designed for??? It may make you feel better. I'm guessing you still pour used oil in the ground!!

MARIA INEZ-PHILLIPS

Meet Maria: Second-year general pathologist; Loves the outdoors, has three cats, two of which came with her husband. Thinks all recycling ends up as plastic-wood park benches.
Home: Valdosta, GA
Age: 31
Occupation: Pathologist
Why Maria Doesn’t Recycle: It seems really involved.

Why Should Maria Recycle:

Why recycle? We're all gonna die. Where would we all be now if our predecessors had the same live for today "f" tomorrow/what's in it for me right now mentality? A colony under Britsh rule?
Phil, Gainesville

the south is 20 years behind what has already happenned up north- this area needs more gov't support and education; and people to be less narrowminded "this is the way we do it here" attitude

You don't recycle cause you're a lazy ____.

JUSTIN DEMME

Meet Justin: Sometimes forgets to put up the third finger when stating his age. Family owns a Hummer which makes Justin feel mildly superior. Blue is his favorite color.
Home: Macon, GA
Age: 3
Occupation: c’mon, give a kid a break
Why Justin Doesn’t Recycle: No one's taught me how.

Why Should Justin Recycle:

Justin, it's easy! My children are just a little older than you and they make a game out of sorting the recycling. They also know that their efforts help to ensure a beautiful world for them when they grow up. And I make sure to point out to them when things are made from recycled materials, so they get to see where all that plastic and paper they sort goes!
Julie, Stockbridge, GA

it will make you feel good justin to recycle and believe it or not it will make the earth healthier for you when you get older!!!

TOMMY KRENSHAW

Meet Tommy: Currently "under employed" as a factory maintenance custodian. Plans to own waterfront property on his new planet to accommodate his jet ski (when he gets one).
Home: Atlanta, GA
Age: 31
Occupation: …looking
Why Tommy Doesn't Recycle: Why would I?
I Get Around, Check Me Out: Flickr YouTube

Why Should Tommy Recycle:

Tommy, you should recycle because the resources on this planet are finite. We cannot create plastic or paper or glass or aluminum. We must mine and harvest materials from the earth and then use them to create those products. Eventually, (maybe not in your lifetime but perhaps your children or grandchildren's) we will run out of those resources and no longer have the means to make the materials we need. Or, those resources will be so scarce it will not be financially feasible to still collect those resources. Or, we would have to put our money into other country's economies in order to harvest their resources. IF we had just recycled this whole time, and used the materials we have already used to make new products here in our own country employing our own people rather than harvesting new resources, then we would not have the problem of vanishing resources and pouring money out of our economy. Even if you're not an environmentalist, recycling makes fiscal sense.
Teresa, San Diego

well I've heard it's to save the trees and keep the air clean for our kids. I think it's the only thing that makes sense. You can't just keep burning stuff forever - you can just about "re-use" anything these days.
Eenah, Kennesaw

Tommy, habits are hard to change, I understand! Start small, baby steps... One little change every month. First one should be the easiest for YOU, maybe eliminating those water bottles? Or recycling your newspaper? Find something. But do it, stick with it, make an effort. Pretty soon, it will be natural, and you will think green! Good luck!
